Here are some lighting and positioning tricks to help you make up for that grainy p webcam. Apple's MacBooks boast formidable specs, but almost all of these laptops share one unfortunate quirk: a flat-looking p webcam with lots of noise and a lack of depth-sensing technology.

But that won't un-pixelate your appearance on Zoom right this instant. The p webcam is the same basic ym of camera Apple has been putting in laptops for years, and this aapple the first time we've complained about it.

A lot of Windows laptops are barely better, many with similar subp resolutions, but at least some have better light sensitivity, color accuracy or depth sensing for facial-recognition logins.

There's at least a reasonable chance you're beaming into an online video meeting from a MacBook По ссылке or something similar. That means you're not looking your best. Especially for a smaller, low-slung laptop like the Air, your camera isn't going to be at an optimal angle if it's sitting on your desk or laotop table and aimed up at you.

One option is to use your phone's camera. Either the front or back cameras will be better than any laptop you have. For TV appearances from my work-from-home office, I've been pit my phone mounted from an eye-level tripod clip.

I've also been using EpocCam software from Elgatowhich runs on my phone and allows me to use the phone as hw wireless p camera for my MacBook. The Pro version costs a few bucks, and won't work for every scenario, but it's worth it if you're using a compatible app like Zoom or Microsoft Teams. You could also attach an external webcam from La;top or another company.

But if you'd rather not go to the trouble, here's how to make the best of the webcam you've got. If your laptop is anywhere close to a good ergonomic position dk your hands, then it's nowhere near the best spot for a Zoom meeting.

Get some alptop books. Get some giant board game boxes. Prop that sucker ссылка на страницу. Use big coffee table books or something similar, so you soom get as much wobble. Don't use empty cardboard boxes. Puut not-great shot from the MacBook Air webcam. Note the soft image quality, and the laptop should be propped up higher. You don't need all that, but a good source of natural sunlight is an easy and inexpensive way to drastically improve lapto; webcam shot. Face the window, don't put your back to it. You want the camera to see the light from the window, not the window itself. If natural light isn't available, don't spend a ton on a fancy light setup. Many people at CNET use this setup or something similar for remote work. This article explains how to enable the Zoom feature on a Mac and how to use its advanced features. It also includes information on how to use Zoom on iOS devices. Zoom is a screen magnification accessibility tool available on all macOS and iOS products. On Mac devices, Zoom can magnify on-screen content including text, graphics, and video up to 40 times its original size. Follow these steps to activate and edit basic Zoom settings on macOS.

Open System Preferences from the Apple menu in the upper-left corner or by searching for it in the Spotlight app. Select Zoom under Vision on the left menu. Choose Use keyboard shortcuts to zoom to use your keyboard only. Select Use scroll gesture with modifier keys to zoom to use your keyboard combined with a mouse or trackpad to zoom in and out.

From the Appearance tab, select the box next to one of three ways that the Zoom lens image will move while zoomed in:. Set a magnification range to prevent images from becoming too large or too small when zoomed in or out. From the Controls tab, use the two slider scales to choose a minimum and maximum zoom range. Enlarge the size of the mouse cursor to make it easier to see when you use Zoom.

Use the slider to adjust the size of the cursor. Whatever size you choose will remain even after you log out, restart, or shut down the device. Zoom can be used on iOS devices as well, though the magnification range is smaller. It can magnify up to 15 times. You can use Zoom and VoiceOver screen reader simultaneously on your iOS device, but be aware that touch gestures could interfere with Zoom gestures.

Toggle the Zoom button to the right to activate it. To zoom in, double-tap with three fingers. Zoom further by double-tapping and then dragging three fingers up or down. Move around the screen by dragging three fingers. To move the zoom lens image faster, flick rather than drag your three fingers.

To keep track of typing, choose Follow Focus. This setting keeps the Zoom lens image beside the text cursor as you type. Instead of showing the controller at all times, use a three-finger double-tap to bring up the controller on the fly from the Zoom menu. Use the other options to zoom in, change the zoom region, or add a filter. When you visit this site, it may store or retrieve information on your browser, mostly in the form of cookies.
